US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld today rejected calls for the US administration to set a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq.

“That would be a mistake,” he told a US Senate panel. “Timing in war is never predictable. There are never guarantees,” Rumsfeld told the Senate Armed Services Committee.
