At least 14 civilians killed in Iraq market bomb

A car bomb exploded today at a market south of Baghdad, killing at least 14 people and wounding 43, police said.

The attack happened in Suwayrah, 25 miles south of Baghdad, in a notorious insurgent stronghold known as Iraq’s Triangle of Death, said police Colonel Ali al-Zarqani.

Major Wes Hayes, a US military spokesman, confirmed a car bomb exploded in the town, but did not know whether it was a suicide attack.

He had no information on casualties.

Al-Zarqani said at least 14 were killed and 43 injured, all of them civilians.
