Long lines at Zimbabwe polling stations

Polls opened today in parliamentary elections which President Robert Mugabe hopes will prove the legitimacy of his nearly 25-year rule.

Before any ballots were cast, opposition leaders and independent rights groups said the vote had already been skewed by years of violence and intimation.
