Akayev: I have not resigned

Overthrown Kyrgyz President Askar Akayev said today that he is outside the country and denied he had resigned.

It was unclear from where Akayev was speaking, a day after he fled the capital Bishkek as thousands of protesters stormed his government’s headquarters. He had been reported to have fled with his family to neighbouring Kazakhstan
