Russia’s Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov said the air defence missiles that Moscow plans to sell to Syria could not threaten Israel, and Russian officials would conduct checks to make sure the weapons don’t slip into wrong hands.

Russia’s Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov said the air defence missiles that Moscow plans to sell to Syria could not threaten Israel, and Russian officials would conduct checks to make sure the weapons don’t slip into wrong hands.

Ivanov defended the planned missile sale that has caused strong US and Israeli concern. The missile “can’t be used for attacking the Israelis, as it has a range of 2-3 miles,” Ivanov said.
