Britain's adult national minimum wage is to rise from £4.85 (€7) an hour to £5.05 (€7.33) from October and £5.35 (€7.76) in 2006, Prime Minister Tony Blair announced today.

Britain's adult national minimum wage is to rise from £4.85 (€7) an hour to £5.05 (€7.33) from October and £5.35 (€7.76) in 2006, Prime Minister Tony Blair announced today.

Mr Blair said that the increase would affect around 1.4 million workers, with women particularly benefiting.
