Pope calls for people power in the media

The public should be granted a greater say in the management of news media, the Pope said today in a written message stressing the power of the industry to do both good and evil.

The message also said that while “the truths of the (Roman Catholic) faith are not open to arbitrary interpretations”, Catholics may still exchange opinions ”in a dialogue which is respectful of justice and prudence”.
