Bush: US and Europe 'are pillars of freedom'

President George Bush today described the United States and Europe as “the pillars of the free world”.

On the eve of his trip to Europe to patch the trans-Atlantic relationship, he said he he did not believe the West is split between an “idealistic United States and a cynical Europe”.
