Pope John Paul spoke briefly and gave his papal blessing from his hospital window in Rome today.

Crowds flocked to St Peter’s Square today to see a broadcast of Pope John Paul II’s Sunday blessing and chanted "Viva il Papa" or "Long live the Pope" after he gave his blessing.
