Al-Zarqawi vows further bloodshed

The terror group al-Qaida in Iraq, led by Jordanian Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, vowed to carry out attacks against military targets in the coming days in an internet statement posted today.

“We promise the Islamic community everywhere, and Iraqis in particular, that in the coming days you’ll be glad to hear about victories, qualitative operations and the killing of the heads of the infidels and apostates,” said the statement on a militant website.

“We warn against standing on the side of the oppressors, so be aware, be aware, of coming close to them,” the statement warned. “Don’t you approach their bases, barracks, convoys and checkpoints.”

The listed sites have been the main targets of suicide bombings in Iraq.

“Our jihad (holy war) won’t stop until we raise up high the banner of monotheism and God’s law
either victory or martyrdom,” the statement said.

Al-Qaida in Iraq has claimed responsibility for most of the suicide attacks against US troops and Iraqi guards, the assassination of senior Iraqi officials, and kidnapping and beheadings of foreigners, Iraqis and Arabs for working with the Americans.
