Search after plane goes missing, 104 aboard
An Afghan passenger jet with 104 people on board is feared to have crashed after it disappeared from radar during a heavy snowstorm, and authorities are scouring an area east of the capital Kabul for clues to its fate.
The Kam Air Boeing 737-200 took off yesterday from the western Afghan city of Heart bound for the capital, but was unable to land because of the bad weather. Airline officials initially said the plane had been diverted to neighbouring Pakistan, but aviation officials there said it never entered their airsace.
