Ailing Pope cancels audiences

Pope John Paul has influenza, leading him to cancel scheduled audiences today, the Vatican said.

Papal spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls said the frail 84-year-old pontiff came down with the illness yesterday and doctors advised that he cut back on his activities.
