Abbas 'close' to ceasefire deal with militants

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas tonight said he has made significant progress in ceasefire talks with militant groups, adding that Israel should respond positively to a truce.

Abbas, who has been in Gaza since Tuesday, said a deal with Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other Palestinian factions was near.
