Annan urges €1.4bn in aid for Asia

UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan has urged the world's nations to channel $1bn (€758,575,000) to the UN to fund the relief operation in tsunami-hit south Asia.

The relief and reconstruction could take up to a decade, world leaders said at a conference today in Indonesia.
