Swiss pledge €73m to tsunami disaster relief
People in Switzerland, which lost up to 500 citizens to the tsunamis that hit the coasts around the Indian Ocean, have pledged 114 million Swiss francs (€73.8m) to aid victims of the disaster.
A telethon by the country’s public television network during Europe’s day of mourning yesterday added 62 million francs (€39.74m) to the sum raised by the Swiss Solidarity charity since the waves hit December 26.
