Allawi warns neighbours over cross-border terror strikes
Iraq's prime minister Iyad Allawi issued a strong warning to the country's neighbours to crack down on militants infiltrating from their territory, saying his country’s patience was wearing thin.
Iraqi officials have repeatedly accused Syria and Iran of supporting the fighters waging a campaign of violence against American forces and Allawi’s US-backed government. Both countries have denied helping militants or allowing them to cross their borders into Iraq.
