Car bomb hits civilian convoy in Baghdad
A car bomb was rammed into a civilian convoy along Baghdad’s airport road today.
The convoy was set on fire, along with another vehicle driving by, according to police officer Hussain Ali at the Ameel police station in Baghdad. He had no details on casualties.
American forces sealed off the area and helicopters were seen hovering over the scene of the attack.
The US military had no immediate information on the attack.
It was unclear whether there were any casualties.
The stretch of highway leading to Baghdad’s international airport is considered one of the country’s most dangerous roads.
US military convoys are commonly targeted by roadside bombs and car bombs.
