With more than 76% of the votes counted in Ohio, President Bush had a near 4% lead over John Kerry in the state.

Voters in Ohio were still queing up to cast their ballots more than five hours after the polls should have closed.

Kerry has won Washington state, with Bush taking Alaska. Kerry took Oregan and Bush won Colarado.

Kerry 35,448,597 – 48% had won 13 states including the District of Columbia with 188 ev (electoral college votes).

Leads in 6 states with 50 ev.

Bush 37,488,464 – 51%

Has won 23 states with 204 ev.

Leads in 7 states with 79 ev.

Others 640,002 – 1%

Needed to win: 270 of the 538 electoral college votes from the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
