125 held after murder of clerics
Police in Pakistan tightened security today for the funeral of one of two prominent Sunni Muslim clerics whose murders on a busy Karachi street set off night-time riots by supporters, officials said.
The clerics – Mufti Jamil and Nazir Ahmed Taunsvi – were travelling in a van when attackers sprayed them with bullets in the centre of the southern city last night. Suspicion was likely to fall on minority Shiite militants.
