Iraqi police official assassinated in Mosul

A police official was killed today when unidentified gunmen opened fire on his car in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

Major Ghassan Mohammed, director of internal affairs for Abi Taman police station, was heading to his office when the attack took place, said Hazim Jalawi, a provincial government spokesman.
