North Korea mushroom cloud 'not a nuclear blast'

A huge mushroom cloud that billowed up from North Korea remains a mystery today, but was not caused by a nuclear explosion, according to South Korean and US officials.

US president George Bush’s senior foreign policy advisers said publicly over the weekend that they did not think Thursday’s reported explosion near North Korea’s border with China was related to Pyongyang’s nuclear aspirations.
