Bombs found on Blair visit island

Two explosive devices were found in Porto Rotondo on the Sardinian coast today, just hours after Tony Blair ended a visit to the nearby villa of his Italian counterpart Silvio Berlusconi, news reports said.

Bomb disposal police found the two unexploded devices in Porto Rotondo after a local newspaper received a tip-off, news agency Ansa reported.

The caller to the paper claimed to be from “Proletarian Combatant Groups”, Ansa said.

Blair and wife Cherie left Sardinia yesterday, a day after arriving for a visit to Berlusconi’s villa.

The villa is situated on the north-east coast of Sardinia near the town of Porto Rotondo.
