Israel ignores road map with settlement plans

The Israeli government has invited bids for 1,000 new homes in Jewish West Bank settlements, in a violation of a US backed peace plan, but insisted the construction has Washington’s tacit approval.

US officials said they expect Israel to abide by the “road map” peace plan which calls for a construction freeze in Jewish settlements.
