Explosions shake Najaf cemetery

A series of loud explosions shook the area near Najaf’s sprawling cemetery today – hours after the breakdown of talks intended to end the fighting in the holy city.

Shiite militants have been hiding out in the cemetery and fighting running gun battles with US forces amid the tombs since violence broke out in Najaf on August 5.
