Vice premier: Israel must scrap more settlements

Israel will have to evacuate more West Bank Jewish settlements than the four in the government’s “unilateral disengagement” plan, vice premier Ehud Olmert has said, indicating that eventually Israel will leave much of the West Bank after it pulls out of Gaza next year.

Olmert spoke yesterday during a tour of a section of the separation barrier Israel is building along the West Bank to keep Palestinian attackers out.
