Five held over disabled man's murder
Five people have been arrested in England in connection with the murder of a disabled man who was beaten to death just yards from his front door, police said today.
Andrew Lammas, from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, had spent the night with friends at a local pub before being dropped near his home in Austin Road shortly after midnight on June 22.
The 44-year-old, who suffered from curvature of the spine and arthritis, was attacked as he returned from his regular darts game at the nearby Sugarbrook inn.
He died in hospital from severe head injuries on July 2.
West Mercia Police said one man had been detained on suspicion of murder.
A force spokesman said another man, two women and a girl had also been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
All five live locally and were arrested yesterday.
They were being questioned at police stations across Worcestershire.
