The record low turnout in last month’s European Parliament elections was due more to disenchantment with politics in general than to Euro-scepticism, according to a poll released in Brussels.

Average turnout across the 25-nation European Union for the June 10-13 vote was 45.7%, down from 49.8% in 1999.
