Swarming bees trap boatman
Coastguards in the UK went to the aid of a man who was trapped on his boat by a swarm of bees tonight.
The lone crewman was evacuated from his angling vessel, Castaway, which was anchored about two miles out from Penclawdd on the Gower Peninsula in south Wales.
Burry Port coastguard and lifeboat were able to reach the man and bring him ashore before he was injured by the bees, said Steve Jones, watch officer at Swansea Coastguard.
Now the rescuers are set to turn their attention to retrieving the boat, but will first need to ensure it is bee-free.
“They have located a bee-keeper in Burry Port and the lifeboat is going to take him out to see if he can get hold of the queen bee,” said Mr Jones.
