Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe castigated private charities, religious groups and other aid organisations today for interfering in politics and said MPs will be asked to pass a law to close some groups and arrest officials.

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe castigated private charities, religious groups and other aid organisations today for interfering in politics and said MPs will be asked to pass a law to close some groups and arrest officials.

“Non-governmental organisations must work for the betterment of our country. We cannot allow them to be used as conduits and instruments of foreign interference,” Mugabe said in an address at the opening of Parliament in Harare.
