Bus stop blast kills one
One person was killed and five wounded when a bomb exploded at a bus stop in the Russian city of Voronezh, 300 miles south of Moscow.
The victims were passengers in a taxi that had just moved away from the stop, the security service said. A 26-year-old woman was killed and one of the wounded was in critical condition in a local hospital, it said.
Authorities said the bomb exploded several yards away from the stop.
The Interfax news agency cited a local police official as saying the bomb had the explosive equivalent of one pound of TNT and that it had been placed in a rubbish bin. ITAR-Tass said the bomb had been packed with bolts.
There was no immediate indication of who was behind the attack. A series of explosions blamed on Chechen rebels and their supporters has plagued Russia in recent years. However, criminal and commercial disagrements also sometimes spill over into violence.
