20 injured in Spanish flight turbulence
Twenty passengers on a Spanish airline flight from Madrid were in hospital in Peru today after being injured when their Iberia Airlines plane hit turbulence.
āSome people were thrown from their seats and most of us slammed into the ceiling,ā Carmen Sanchez said in Lima.
āIt was like an enormous roller coaster ā only this one was at 10,700 metres (35,100 feet) up,ā Antonio Serper told a radio interviewer. He said his seat belt kept him from flying out of his seat.
An operator at the San Gabriel Clinic in Lima said the injured passengers were shaken up, some with bruises and minor cuts from flying utensils.
