Five die in Alps plane crash

Five people were killed when a small plane crashed onto a golf course in the Swiss Alps today.

The plane came down near the village of Zuoz, close to the ski resort of St Moritz, police said.

All the occupants – four adults and one child – were killed in the crash.

Police said the plane had taken off from Germany and was due to land at the airport at Samedan – which serves St Moritz.

Airport chief Beat Margadant said the pilot had landed there many times in the past.

He said flying conditions in the region were poor because of heavy cloud.
