Snowborders plunge to deaths on Alpe-d'Huez
Two Dutch snowboarders plunged to their deaths at a French ski resort today after wandering off-piste and skidding on packed snow, mountain rescue workers said.
The pair, on holiday at France’s Alpe-d’Huez resort, were unable to stop sliding and plunged 500 feet onto a rocky terrain below.
They were skiing at an elevation of about 7,260 feet.
The skiers were identified as a man and woman, both in their late 20s, who had arrived at Alpe-d’Huez yesterday.
