Child killer Huntley attacked in jail

Soham child killer Ian Huntley has been attacked and injured in jail, a UK prison source confirmed.

Huntley, who was jailed for murdering 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, was hit in the face by a fellow inmate at Belmarsh jail, south-east London, UK.

The 30-year-old was said to be playing cards with a prison officer outside his cell when the prisoner came up and punched him.

Huntley was believed to have suffered only "minor bruising" in the attack, which happened on Thursday, and was taken to the prison's health unit.

It is thought to be the first time Huntley has been attacked in jail since he was arrested in 2002 and held on remand. He was handed two life sentences by the Old Bailey in December.
