Milosevic ill again

Former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic fell ill again today, delaying the last two days of the prosecution’s case in his war crimes trial.

Prosecutors had been scheduled to call their last witnesses on today and Thursday, but the UN war crimes court in The Hague said in a statement the 61-year-old was too sick to appear.

No hearings will be held this week, a court official said.

Milosevic, is accused of 66 war crimes committed Balkan wars in the 1990s and has been on trial for two years. He has had repeated bouts with flu and suffers high blood pressure and heart problems.

Hearings were also cancelled earlier this month due to his ill health which has resulted in several months of missed court sessions.

After the prosecution finishes presenting its case, the trial will go into recess for several months while Milosevic prepares his defence.
