Twenty killed, 40 injured in Afghan battle

Twenty people were killed and forty wounded in battles between rival armed factions in north-eastern Afghanistan, state television reported today.

Fighting broke out on Thursday evening near Orgo in Badakhshan province between forces loyal to the district chief and a local militia commander, the report said, without citing sources.
