Agreement reached on EU aviation safety directive

The European Parliament and the EU Council of Transport Ministers have reached agreement on a directive relating to the safety of non-European aircraft using EU airports.

The agreement was announced today by Irish Transport Minister Seamus Brennan, who is currently president of the council.

Mr Brennan said the directive was designed to establish and maintain a high level of aviation safety in the EU.
