Jury spares teenager's life in US sniper case

The jury in the Washington sniper case today spared teenager Lee Boyd Malvo from the death penalty – the fate which awaits his mentor John Allen Muhammad.

The sentencing decision came after defence lawyers portrayed Malvo as an impressionable boy who had fallen under Muhammad’s murderous spell.
