Berlin embassy security tightened

German police today shut the street in front of the British Embassy in Berlin to traffic, a move they said was aimed at bringing security at the site in line with measures at US, Israeli and Jewish facilities in the capital.

German police today shut the street in front of the British Embassy in Berlin to traffic, a move they said was aimed at bringing security at the site in line with measures at US, Israeli and Jewish facilities in the capital.

Police erected barriers around the embassy, close to the Brandenburg Gate, immediately after deadly truck bombings last Thursday at the British Consulate and a London-based bank in Istanbul, Turkey.
