Al-Qaida man escapes Pakistani capture bid

A top associate of Osama bin Laden has escaped a large-scale Pakistan army sweep along the border with Afghanistan, but some al-Qaida men were killed and captured in the raid, intelligence officials said.

Eight suspected al-Qaida followers were killed and 18 others captured in the operation on October 2.
