Researchers identify stroke gene

Researchers have identified a gene that increases the risk of a stroke – the third leading cause of death in developed countries.

Those who have the stroke-susceptibility gene have a three to five times greater risk of ischemic stroke, said researchers at Iceland’s deCODE Genetics.
