British Airways and Qantas appealed today against an Australian court’s ruling that cleared the way for a landmark lawsuit by those who suffer from blood clots due to so-called “economy class syndrome.”

Brian Povey of Sydney went to court after suffering from deep vein thrombosis, which can cause fatal blood clots, following a flight to London in 2000.
