Berlusconi remains unrepentant

Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi insisted today he had not apologised to Germany, saying he had merely told the German leader he was sorry that his Nazi “joke” had been misunderstood.

At a press conference in Rome after hosting his first European Commission meeting, Berlusconi stressed that he was the one who had been offended by an exchange in the European Parliament with German MEP Martin Schulz.
