US soldiers 'abducted from observation post'

Two American soldiers appear to have been abducted in Iraq, defence officials said in Washington today.

The men and their Humvee army vehicle had been stationed at an observation posted near the town of Balad, north of Baghdad, when they went missing on Wednesday night, according to Pentagon officials.
