Cambodian police opened fire on hundreds of factory workers demonstrating for higher wages in the capital Phnom Penh today, killing at least one person.

Seven policemen were hurt by stone-throwers. The workers had protested peacefully for two days in front of their garment factory, but they turned restive today when police blocked them from marching towards the city centre.
