Blair praise as Poland joins EU

Britain's Prime Minister Tony Blair today congratulated Polish premier Leszek Miller on his country’s vote to join the EU.

Latest returns showed a 77% “yes” vote in the referendum on joining the next wave of accession countries to the European Union.

Mr Blair visited Warsaw two weeks’ ago and urged Poles to vote for cementing their ties with the EU.

The British Prime Minister’s official spokesman said: “He has sent a message of congratulation to the Polish Prime Minister following the provisional result of the Polish referendum. Although we do not have the final result, the outcome is already clear."
