29 die in landslide in China
At least 29 people have been killed in southern China by a landslide that buried two buildings where road workers were sleeping.
Rescuers with bulldozers were searching for the bodies of three people still missing after yesterday’s disaster in Guizhou province.
There were no survivors, one official said.
Heavy rain and road building work may have loosened earth on the hillside and contributed to the landslide, local media said.
Guizhou’s Communist Party secretary, governor and other top officials visited the scene of the accident yesterday, which took place in one of the country’s poorest provinces.
