'Little hero' Connor, aged 2, calls ambulance for mother
A two-year-old boy who dialed 999 after his mother suffered an epileptic fit was today hailed a “little hero” by police in England.
Clare Taylor, 22, of Reddish, Greater Manchester, was diagnosed with epilepsy after suffering a seizure last January.
After she became unconscious following an epileptic fit on Sunday, her quick-thinking son Connor dialed 999.
The operator who took the call could hear a toddler calling “Mummy” and a police officer and ambulance were dispatched to the house on Bryn Drive.
Ms Taylor, a policy adviser with Standard Life Healthcare, was taken to Stepping Hill Hospital but was allowed home after a check-up.
Today, Ms Taylor praised Connor, saying he was a “clever little boy“.
“We think he first picked up calling 999 from watching a hospital programme,” she said.
“It became a bit of joke in the family. We would ask him what to do if you need a doctor and Connor would say 999.”
She added: “Connor is a clever little boy and if he hadn’t made that phone call, I don’t know what would have happened.”
Detective Inspector Andy Maddocks from Stockport CID called Connor “a little hero“.
“Fortunately, this is a story with a happy ending and both his family and Greater Manchester Police are very proud of Connor,” he said.
