Officials investigating reported explosions

US officials are looking into a reported explosion at an ammunition dump in Baghdad, a US military spokesman said today.

Flight Lt. Josh Rushing, at US Central Command in Qatar, said he had no information on any casualties and said the investigation was based on media reports of a blast.

“Something obviously happened, whether it involved us” was being checked, he said. “We have no reports of anything, but we’re definitely looking into it.”

CNN broadcast footage of injured women and children with bloodied faces and said the blast may have killed at least 14 civilians.
