Israel will invite Palestinian Prime Minister-designate Mahmoud Abbas to Jerusalem to discuss restarting the stalled peace process once a new Palestinian Cabinet is in place, an Israeli official said today.

Palestinian officials said that Abbas would agree to meet with Israel’s leaders and affirmed that the Palestinian Authority would accept a US-backed peace plan, whose unveiling is expected soon after Abbas’ Cabinet is confirmed next week by the Palestinian legislature. However, Israel wants changes in the plan.
